BayatashxDr.Alireza Bayat, PhD, PEng

Dr. Bayat has an extensive background in geotechnical engineering and leads research at the IRRF. His expertise in road infrastructure has lead to research in a number of areas, including mechanistic-empirical pavement design, development and characterization of road materials and pavement performance for cold regions, and winter road maintenance.

ChengashxDr. Roger Cheng, PhD, PEng

Dr. Cheng is currently the Chair of the Department for Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta. His breadth of knowledge in a number of Civil Engineering disciplines provides the IRRF with valuable expertise and guidance through research projects.

Dr. Gul’s research focuses on Structural Health Monitoring, which includes a number of integral components that are pertinent to the quality of IRRF research. Dr. Gul’s expertise contributes significantly to the progress of the IRRF and its many projects.

Postdoctoral Fellows

YaolinDr. Yaolin Yi, PhD

Dr. Yi joins the IRRF from Southeast University, China, where he received his PhD in 2013. Dr. Yi is experienced in the areas of soil mechanics, and has been a knowledgeable contributor to the IRRF since 2013.

LeilaDr. Leila Hashemian, PhD

Dr. Hashemian joined the IRRF in the summer of 2014 from Tarbiat Modares University in Tehran, Iran where she received her PhD focusing in the areas of pavement and transportation engineering.


MahmoodDr. Mahmoud Salimi, PhD

Dr. Salimi joined the IRRF as a Research Assistant in the summer of 2014 from Isfahan University of Technology in Iran. He brings years of expertize in the area of mechanical engineering to the IRRF, and provides researchers with insightful guidance in project-related activities.

Dr. Nassiri  joined the IRRF in 2012 as a Postdoctoral Fellow after completing her PhD at the University of Pittsburg. After assisting the IRRF with numerous projects, she has moved on to become a faculty member at Washington State University.
